چکیده

Interferometric observations of stars in late stages of stellar evolution and the impact of VLTI observations are discussed. Special attention is paid to the spectral information that can be derived from these observations and on the corresponding astrophysical interpretation of the data by radiative transfer modelling. It is emphasized that for the robust and non-ambiguous construction of dust-shell models it is essential to take diverse and independent observational constraints into account. Apart from matching the spectral energy distribution, the use of spatially resolved information plays a crucial role for obtaining reliable models. The combination of long-baseline interferometry data with high-resolution single-dish data (short baselines), as obtained, for example, by bispectrum speckle interferometry, provide complementary information and will improve modelling and interpretation.

Maps of the Molecular Emission around 18 Evolved Stars

We present maps at 20 resolution of the molecular emission around 18 evolved stars (14 asymptotic giant branch stars, one supergiant, two proto-planetary nebulae and one planetary nebula), mostly in the CO(3-2) line. Almost all molecular envelopes appear to be at least marginally resolved at this resolution. A substantial fraction of the molecular envelopes show clear deviations from spherical ...

The effect of variation of stellar dispersion velocities by the galactic latitude in interpreting gravitational microlensing observations

Our galaxy is a spiral galaxy and its stars are mostly in a thin disk and rotate around the galactic center. The vertical component of the dispersion velocity of stars is a function of the galactic latitude and decreases with increasing it. In the galactic Besancon model, this dependence is ignored and they just consider the dependence of dispersion velocity on the stellar age. Becanson model i...

Forty Years of X-Ray Binaries

In 2012 it was forty years ago that the discovery of the first X-ray binary Centaurus X-3 became known. That same year it was discovered that apart from the High-Mass X-ray Binaries (HMXBs) there are also Low-Mass X-ray Binaries (LMXBs), and that Cygnus X-1 is most probably a black hole. By 1975 also the new class of Be/X-ray binaries was discovered. After this it took 28 years before ESAs INTE...

A high - sensitivity OH 5 - cm line survey in late - type stars ⋆

We have undertaken a comprehensive search for 5-cm excited OH maser emission from evolved stars representative of various stages of late stellar evolution. Observed sources were selected from known 18-cm OH sources. This survey was conducted with the 100-m Effelsberg telescope to achieve high signal to noise ratio observations and a sensitivity limit of about 0.05 to 0.1 Jy. A total of 64 stell...
